speed test: measure the speed of your internet connection |
How the internet speed test works
During an internet speed test, several test data of different sizes are loaded from the server (download test) or sent to the server (upload test). In parallel, the necessary time is measured so that the speed (download rate and upload rate) can be calculated. The different sizes of test data ensure that the test takes enough time to obtain a precise result, in contrast to other procedures. The internet speed test detects the following types of connections: broadband, cable, VDSL2 25000, DSL 16000, DSL 6000, DSL 3000, DSL 2000, DSL 1500, DSL 1000, DSL 768 and modem/ISDN.
Evaluation
The bandwidth of your internet connection cannot be determined with 100% accuracy, since too many other factors influence evaluation. These factors include, e.g. utilisation of the measuring server and your current network load. Do not access any other web sites or load files during the test! Close all programmes running in the background such as email or other web browsers to avoid disruption during measurements. You will see the load of our server at the end of the speed tests.
We cannot offer any guarantee over the accuracy and reproducibility of the test results. There is no claim for the availability of this service.
You want to know even more details? OK.
The speed test will provide you more detailed information about your connection, when you fill out the form sheet. Your measurement will be compared with benchmark values.
*) The speeds marked with * are no longer part of the current service range of the selected provider (as of 05/2008). However, since there are existing contracts with these "old" speeds, they are included in the list and can be selected. If a speed or a provider is missing in the list, please send a Message.
